Ranbir begins by saying it’s unfair to judge someone without knowing them, then confidently adds that he already likes someone. Zoravar is surprised and asks him what he means. Ranbir explains that during his time with the Bengali family in Darjeeling, he met their daughter and was instantly drawn to her—she’s beautiful, and he would love to marry her. Dadu immediately shows his disapproval. Ranbir questions him, asking if it’s because of what happened with Bua—was her husband Bengali? Meher tries to change the subject and tells him to let it go, but Ranbir insists that what happened then wasn’t right, and if anyone’s at fault, it’s the family for holding onto that grudge. Zoravar says their cultures are different, hinting at disapproval. Ranbir shrugs and says if his family has a problem, he won’t get married. Harman tries to calm things down, saying it’s actually a good thing that Ranbir has found someone he likes.
Ranbir starts telling them about Meghla and her family, mentioning that Chandan, her father, doesn’t have a high-paying profession. Dadu immediately assumes that means they aren’t wealthy. Dadi, however, says she has no problem with it. Bua then asks Ranbir to show them a picture of the girl. He excitedly agrees and says she’s very beautiful.
Meher then steps in with a more practical tone and tells Ranbir to give them Meghla’s parents’ number. She says they’ll talk to them and even go visit. If they like the girl, that’s great—if not, they’ll reconsider. Ranbir thanks her. Dadu, still against the idea, declares he doesn’t agree. Dadi confronts him and they start arguing. Meher gently tries to make peace, saying he should let go of the past and make a fresh start. Dadu complains that he’s old now and no one listens to him. Balveer tries reasoning with him, saying that if they keep pushing Ranbir away, he might just marry the girl without them, and that would truly bring shame to the family. Zoravar asks why Ranbir dropped this bombshell out of nowhere. Ranbir simply replies that he likes her, and hands them her number. Param and Harman tease him a little, making the moment lighter.
Meher brings in pakoras and sits with them. She turns to Ranbir and curiously asks what it is about this girl that he likes so much. Ranbir tells her not to ask questions and just go meet Meghla—she’ll understand. Meher nods. Harman asks if Meher has called Meghla’s family yet, but she says it’s too soon. Simran then worries about how they’ll break the news to Mr. Sethi, the man who was hoping to fix a match with Ranbir. Ranbir casually replies that there are other bachelors in the house. Param looks up, confused, and says, “You mean me?” Everyone bursts into laughter. Meher scolds them, saying they shouldn’t talk about women so lightly. Param gets honest and says he’s jobless, doesn’t have any strong ambitions, and is only staying here thanks to Maasi. He adds that he only recently got a job.
Harman tries to cheer him up, saying he’s not actually jobless. Meher playfully calls him crazy. Ranbir encourages Param to follow his passion. Meher makes it clear that they’ll only agree to Ranbir’s marriage if they meet the girl and like her. Ranbir insists they will—he’s confident they’ll adore Meghla. Harman jokes that Ranbir’s already smitten, even though they barely spent time together. Ranbir describes Meghla’s simple, kind nature and how genuine she is. Meher warns him to slow down, and jokes that she regrets sending him on that trip. Ranbir laughs and reminds her that she was the one always nagging him to get married. He urges her to find out more about Meghla and promises she’ll be impressed.
