Kumud and Kusum sit together, quietly performing the evening aarti. Their voices mix softly with the sound of the diya’s flame. Danny is sitting apart from them, looking upset and withdrawn. Kumud carefully applies tilak to his forehead, her touch gentle but comforting. She reminds him warmly, “It’s time for the aarti. Please come home on time.” Saras is getting ready to leave for the construction site, but he doesn’t let Kumud apply tilak to him. Instead, she asks him if he can bring some things she needs for the puja. Saras doesn’t reply at first, so Kumud quietly says she’ll manage to get the items herself after finishing her schoolwork. Finally, Saras takes the list from her without much expression. Kumud smiles softly, feeling a small glimmer of hope.
Kusum asks if anyone knows where Ghuman is, but no one does—she left early that morning and hasn’t come back yet. Suddenly, Ghuman arrives looking beautiful and confident as she meets Kabir. She praises him, saying, “You planned everything perfectly. You separated the brothers, and no one suspected me.” Then she asks why he called her over now. Kabir holds up a blank canvas and asks, “Do you remember why it’s still empty?” Ghuman guesses maybe he hadn’t found the right subject to paint. Kabir smiles and says, “Now, I have.” He asks for her permission to paint her portrait. Ghuman strikes a confident pose, a sly smile on her face as she thinks about how she can use Kabir’s feelings for her to win Danny back. Kabir looks at her closely, believing her trust will help him achieve his own goals. He starts painting, his eyes never leaving her.
Meanwhile, Saras returns home with the items Kumud asked for. She thanks him warmly and tells him to freshen up and have something to eat. Saras replies that he already ate. Kumud nods, but gently reminds him again to come home on time for the aarti. Saras refuses and says he won’t come. Kumud watches him leave with a worried look. Kusum comments on Saras’s stubbornness, and Kumud urges him again to come. Saras walks away, not looking back.
Kabir finishes the painting and shows it to Ghuman. She looks at the portrait carefully, surprised by how lifelike it is. She tells him, “You’ve confused me. I don’t know if I’m really this beautiful or if you just made me look that way.” Kabir replies softly, “Paintings don’t lie. You are truly beautiful.” He adds that he won’t paint anyone else after this. Just then, Saras walks into Kabir’s room. He asks why Kumud is doing all this, and warns Kabir not to hold any false hopes. Saras says Danny considers him a stepbrother, and despite forgiving him many times, this time he won’t. He advises Kabir to forget about Kumud’s hopes because the brothers won’t meet again.
Back in the house, Kusum finds Danny crying in their room. She comforts him, but he looks broken. He tells her how lonely he felt in jail when no one visited him—not even Saras. He says he can’t believe Saras didn’t come to see him, and that he doesn’t love him anymore. Kusum gently asks if he’s sure, reminding him how much Saras cares deep down. Danny says his heart says otherwise; he feels betrayed. He tells her that Kabir, a stranger, was the one who truly helped him when no one else did. Kusum knows Danny is confused but insists he won’t find happiness apart from Saras.
Meanwhile, Kalika expresses her fears about Dinesh Bhai threatening her. She refuses to leave home despite being scared, and complains that Ghuman won’t give her any money. Just then, Yash’s mother arrives and questions Kalika. Kalika blames Kumud for the ongoing fight between Danny and Saras, saying Kumud’s efforts won’t fix anything. Yash’s mother agrees that Kumud won’t succeed and warns that Kumud and Saras plan to stay in the house on the tenth day of the puja. She says they might force her to give up her room, so Kalika starts packing her bags. Yash’s mother promises to protect her room and confront anyone who tries to take it.
Yash’s mother then goes to Vidyachatur and Badimaa, telling them what Kalika said. She mocks the family’s worries, but Vidyachatur and Badimaa stand firm. Vidyachatur says they won’t be happy if Saras and Kumud have to leave the house. Badimaa urges Yash’s mother to tell Kumud to stay away from their home. Yash’s mother argues back, but Badimaa reminds everyone that their values mean they will try hard to keep the family together. Vidyachatur ends the argument by saying they will do what’s best for their children. Badimaa suggests they all go for the aarti, hoping Kumud is waiting.
Kalika, feeling frustrated and powerless, wonders what she can do next. At Kumud’s home, Kumud and Kusum wait anxiously for their husbands to return for the aarti. Vidyachatur and Badimaa arrive and are greeted warmly. Kusum offers them a seat, and Badimaa blesses everyone. Vidyachatur asks about Danny and Saras. Danny joins the group, greeting everyone politely while Kusum smiles faintly. Kumud waits silently for Saras. Saras, however, is alone in his room, lost in thought. He looks at Kumud’s photo and speaks softly, “You have hurt me deeply this time. We promised to support each other through every pain, but now you’ve left me to face this alone.” He clutches the photo, feeling the weight of betrayal.
Kumud begins the aarti, holding the diya carefully in her hand. Tears well up in her eyes as she says quietly, “This is a test of my trust. Let’s see what happens.” Saras, meanwhile, is restless, covering his ears as the bell rings. He tells himself firmly, “I won’t come.” Everyone watches Kumud, worried by her silence and tears.
