Sunanda’s tone turns harsh as she insists that Kumud must dance whether she speaks or not. She threatens to force-feed her if necessary. Kumud, with unwavering resolve, grabs Sunanda’s hand and glares at her, leaving Sunanda stunned. Kumud then releases her with anger and stands up. She declares that her self-respect is more important to her than life itself—she would rather die than eat or dance under coercion. Jugnu quickly steps in to calm the situation and urges Sunanda to come with him. They lock the door as they leave Kumud alone.
Elsewhere, the girls at Kumud’s home are being served food. One of them asks about Kumud’s whereabouts. Saras simply says she stepped out. Meanwhile, Jugnu tries to convince Sunanda to let Kumud go. He reminds her of how many girls he’s brought for her before and pleads with her to spare Kumud. He explains he has never asked for anything in return for his work, but this one time, he is asking her to release Kumud. Sunanda teases him, asking if he’s in love with Kumud or just mesmerized by her beauty. She laughs at the thought and insists Kumud is too valuable to let go. Jugnu smiles faintly but doesn’t respond.
Back home, Kusum tells the girls their mothers are waiting and it’s time to go. Saras offers to drop Mishti off himself. As they walk, Mishti asks where Kumud is. Saras tells her the truth about her disappearance. Concerned, Mishti urges him to find Kumud quickly, saying she’s gone too far and no one seems able to reach her. Her mother arrives, and Saras asks if they’ve seen Kumud. She remembers meeting her in the market—Kumud had some old ghungroos and seemed troubled, asking questions about them. Saras thanks her, realizing this clue might finally lead him to Kumud.
Saras then visits the market, showing Kumud’s photo to shopkeepers. One man initially says he doesn’t remember anything, but Saras pleads with him, reminding him of the ghungroos. The man’s memory jogs—he recalls Kumud and says he directed her to Sundarnagar. Saras senses that this place must hold some significance for Kumud, so he quickly leaves to search for her there. On the way, he calls Guniyal and tells her not to inform anyone until he finds Kumud. He reassures her that he will bring her back safely and wonders aloud why Kumud was so concerned about those old ghungroos.
Meanwhile, Sunanda returns to Kumud and throws the ghungroos at her feet. Kumud looks at them silently. Sunanda coldly says that whether or not Kumud chooses to eat, she must wear the ghungroos—how else will she dance? With that, Sunanda leaves. Kumud stares at the ghungroos, then at her mangalsutra, the memories of her marriage and her identity weighing heavily on her.
Kumud imagines Saras arriving and embracing her. Both are overwhelmed with emotion and tears. But the moment vanishes, and the background music fades as she realizes he isn’t really there. Similarly, Saras, driving on the road, imagines seeing Kumud in his car. He reaches out to touch her, only to realize it was just his imagination again. A moment later, he spots a woman on the road who looks like Kumud and slams the brakes—but it’s not her. Frustrated, he continues on, haunted by memories.
Back in the locked room, Kumud sits alone, crying as she thinks of Saras. Suddenly, two girls enter and tease her for finally smiling. They bring food, encouraging her to eat, saying Sunanda is busy preparing for a grand event in her honor. When Kumud refuses the food, one girl jokes that if she doesn’t eat, she’ll die, to which Kumud replies, “What, will you kill me?” The girl answers that no one can even come or go from this place without Sunanda’s permission. Her companion looks at Kumud with sympathy.
One of the girls insists Kumud eat, saying if she wants to leave, she’ll need to stay alive. She shares her own story and then introduces herself as Kusum. Kumud is stunned to hear that name. The girl gently pleads with Kumud to eat, telling her to think of her as her younger sister. Overcome with emotion, Kumud recalls her real sister Kusum and finally allows the girl to feed her. Both of them tear up. Kumud holds her hand tightly, grateful for the small act of kindness in such a dark place.
