He tells himself that Kumud will come to him, and he begins to count, as if that will make his plan feel real.

Kumud is at home, pacing and calling Saras over and over. The phone and the landline don’t connect. She remembers he called from this landline earlier and keeps trying, voice shaking with worry. When the doorbell rings, she runs to open it, thinking it is Saras, but it is Prashant. He looks hurt and acts helpful. Kumud tells him Saras didn’t come home and that his phone is off. Prashant pretends to be worried and invites her in, offering water and comfort. He reads the message from Saras’s number that Kumud shows him and speaks softly about giving Saras time to cool down. He holds Kumud’s hand and seems kind. Kumud is grateful for any support; she thanks him and leaves, clutching the small hope he gave her. In the car, Prashant smiles because his plan is working.
Saras keeps fighting the ropes. He tries to remember if anyone knows where he might have left a clue or where his phone could be, but his strength drains and the blood at his collar makes him dizzy. A familiar song flashes through his mind and he thinks of Kumud waiting at home. He wants to call her, to tell her he is fine, but he can’t. The room is quiet except for his shallow breaths and the quick footsteps of men outside.
At the same time, Badimaa is in the kitchen making laddoos, trying to calm herself by doing something she knows well. She drops the tray when she hears the worried voices, and the sweets scatter across the floor. Vidyachatur and Guniyal come in to see what is wrong. Badimaa calls Kumud, and Kumud answers but tries to sound composed. She lies that Saras is at work and busy, because the truth terrifies her. When the call ends, she cannot hold it together and cries alone with the broken photo frame in her hands.
Prashant’s men search Saras’s pockets and find his phone — but the battery is dead. They lift Saras and move him somewhere safer for them, their movements quick and practiced. Prashant speaks aloud about what he will do next: remove Saras from the picture and then position himself as the one Kumud can lean on. He says it out like business, with no remorse, and his words feel colder than his actions.
That night, the family worries about Kabir too. Danny and Anushka fret until Kabir calls from a friend’s house, saying he will come later. His casual promise calms people briefly, but it does nothing for Kumud’s ache. She reads a message she sends to Saras aloud: she promises she will not fight and begs him to come back. In the dark, Saras remembers nothing but her face and tries to force himself onward, but the ropes hold him tight.
The next morning, Kumud and Prashant go to the police station to report Saras missing. Inside, the inspector listens carefully but says there is a rule: they must wait twenty-four hours before starting a full search. Kumud cannot accept that waiting; she insists Saras would never leave her alone. Prashant pushes gently for immediate help, playing the concerned friend, while the inspector records details and asks routine questions: any enemies, business rivals, problems at home. Prashant answers calmly and then lets the inspector write the formal complaint. Kumud leaves the station with her hands still shaking.
Back at home, she tapes the broken frame together and stares at the photo until the light changes. She refuses to let the text message from Saras that Prashant uses as proof become the truth in her heart. She keeps telling herself the promise Saras made: he always comes back. Outside, the city moves on, indifferent and loud, while inside a plan slowly closes in. Prashant has Saras’s phone and a message already sent. No rescue has yet arrived for the man who is tied and bleeding, and no one has seen the whole truth. Kumud waits, tired and raw, believing that Saras will return and refusing to let despair take over.
