Taxi is an Indian Bengali romantic-comedy-drama that premiered on Zee Bangla on April 12, 2021, . Produced by Crazy Ideas Media and starring Annwesha Hazra as Urmi Rakshit and Writwik Mukherjee as Satyaki Sarkar, the show weaves together family intrigue, class conflict, and a heartfelt love story .
FULL STORY SUMMARY
Urmi Rakshit grows up believing she is the cherished granddaughter of industrialist Rajat Subhra Rakshit. In reality, her aunt Gayatree and uncle Hirak secretly plotted to cause the car crash that killed Urmi’s father—leaving her mother chronically ill—so they could seize her inheritance. Oblivious to this betrayal, Urmi is raised in luxury and sheltered from the world, her greatest passion being music. When her dreams of stardom are dashed—first by a humiliating mishap at a singing competition and then at a high-society party—she impulsively chooses to become a taxi driver, trading silk sarees for a yellow cab and her grandmother’s mansion for the bustling streets of Kolkata .
On the streets, Urmi’s life takes its most unexpected turn when she meets Satyaki “Tukai” Sarkar, a bright young man from a loving but modest family who drives his own taxi to support his relatives and nurture his dream of launching an app-based cab service. Their first encounter is a clash of worlds—her refined manners against his down-to-earth wit—but as Satyaki helps Urmi navigate life’s potholes, a deep respect blossoms into romance. Together they learn to stand up to prejudice, whether it’s disapproval from Urmi’s scheming aunt and uncle or scorn from society for their cross-class relationship .
As their love story unfolds, Urmi uncovers the chilling truth about her family’s treachery. Gayatree and Heerak Subhra Rakshit step up their machinations—spreading false rumors, engineering misunderstandings, and even arranging a marriage between Urmi and a wealthy suitor named Pawan to break her bond with Satyaki. Meanwhile, Rini—Satyaki’s neighbor nursing an unrequited crush—stirs further chaos by sowing discord in both families. Each trial tests the couple’s devotion: Urmi must confront the betrayal of blood, and Satyaki must defend his honor against slanderous whispers .
In the climactic episodes, Urmi gathers courage and publicly exposes her aunt and uncle’s plot, refusing to sacrifice her love or her integrity. With Satyaki at her side, she reclaims her rightful place in her grandfather’s heart and secures justice for the wrongs done to her family. The series concludes on a triumphant note: the conspirators are unmasked, long-buried truths come to light, and Urmi and Satyaki, having weathered every storm together, look toward a future where their road—them choosing each other—never truly ends .
