Mauli notices Kunal standing there with his hair still damp, looking distracted and lost in thought. She takes a towel and gently dries his hair, trying to lighten the moment by talking about Nandini. She says how happy Nandini looked while breaking her mangalsutra and how beautifully she danced, adding that she looked even prettier today. Mauli feels Nandini should divorce Rajdeep quickly and free herself completely. Kunal, however, grows irritated and tells her to let Nandini make her own decisions. His mind is elsewhere, occupied with Nandini’s presence, and he grows restless before walking off under the excuse of work.

Soon, Nandini steps into their room and politely asks if she should make pakoras and tea. Mauli happily agrees since the weather feels perfect, but Kunal coldly refuses. Sensing his bad mood, Nandini looks concerned, but Mauli brushes it off, saying he is busy with work. Later, Mauli questions Kunal about his strange behavior, but he insists he is fine. When she suggests he go help Nandini, he shuts her down and firmly asks her to close the door. In the kitchen, Nandini is busy frying pakoras when Mauli joins her. With sincerity in her voice, Nandini confesses that during her dance today, she realized she no longer wants to live with Rajdeep. She wants to thank Kunal and Mauli for helping her take this step; Mauli is like a sister to her, but she feels the need to show her gratitude to everyone, especially Kunal.
She wonders what she can prepare for him that he can’t refuse, and Mauli playfully suggests one dish but insists they keep it a surprise. Meanwhile, Kunal lies in bed, unable to focus on work, his mind filled with thoughts of Nandini. Mauli eventually drags him outside, despite his protests. Just then, the lights go out, and he complains about the childishness. Suddenly, Nandini appears holding a cake glowing with candles. Kunal freezes in shock, staring at her, until the lights come back on and the family cheers. Mauli begins to explain, but Nandini interrupts, saying she wants to speak. She compares her gratitude to being rescued from drowning or suffocating and being given air again. She says Mauli is her friend, but Kunal has been her support through humanity, and now she can truly call him a good friend.
Mauli insists Nandini is family and will get the biggest share of cake. Kunal tries to brush off the formality, but Nandini explains that she is celebrating someone who gave her hope and kept his promise. The two recall the promise he once made to her in the under-construction building. When Dida and Mauli tease them about keeping secrets, Nandini clarifies it was only about support, nothing hidden. The moment lightens, and they cut the cake. Mauli feeds both Kunal and Nandini, and Nandini, with a soft smile, offers Kunal a piece, which he reluctantly accepts.
Later, Mauli excitedly asks Nandini to teach her some dance steps. Nandini laughs, saying teaching Mauli dance is like trying to fix spoiled kheer—it can’t be done. She teases her by reminding everyone of how she once danced at Priya’s birthday. Dida and Mauli laugh uncontrollably at the memory, while Kunal quietly excuses himself and walks away. Mauli notices his strange behavior, wondering why he’s been so distant. That night, Kunal stands alone on the balcony, weighed down by thoughts. Mauli hugs him from behind, asking if he is hiding something. He denies it, but she presses, saying he has been upset ever since they returned. She asks if she or Nandini did something to hurt him.
He avoids her questions, but when she pushes him to open up, he hugs her tightly and pleads with her not to leave him, saying he misses her terribly. Mauli gently reminds him that she’s been with him all day, but he explains she was with him, not close to him. Mauli realizes he’s craving time with her but points out that Nandini needs her too. This makes Kunal snap, shouting at her not to bring Nandini into their private time. Mauli, unsettled, hugs him back and wonders what’s happening to him. Kunal, conflicted, reminds himself that Mauli is his life and love, yet his heart feels helpless.
That night, Kunal drifts into a dream. He playfully chases Mauli through a maze of flowing white curtains. She twirls, her laughter filling the air, but when he finally embraces her and lifts the fabric from her face, it is Nandini staring back at him. Jolting awake in panic, Kunal sits up, horrified. He questions why he dreams of Nandini when his love is Mauli. Desperate to shake it off, he splashes water on his face in the washroom, reminding himself it was only a dream. Later, unable to sleep, he goes to the kitchen to make tea, thinking staying awake is better than dreaming. As he turns with his cup, he collides with Nandini. She quickly apologizes, saying she only came for water, but her eyes fall on his hand, which is red and burned. Worried, she immediately prepares a bowl of ice water and gently dips his hand into it. Kunal stares at her in silence, the air between them heavy and awkward, as he battles emotions he doesn’t want to face.
